Online Workshop Resources: Feeding the World?
Environmental Governance of Industrial Livestock's Appetite for Latin American Soy
This online workshop charted how soy became one of the world’s most economically significant and ecologically destructive crops. Known as a”flexi-crop” for its wide range of industrial uses, soy is a primary component in industrial animal agriculture feed and a key player in the “meatification” of diets. This session analysed the environmental governance of and collective action against industrial livestock's ever-growing appetite for Latin American soy, with presentations from Dr Paulina Flores Martinez (University of York, SEI-affiliated Researcher, UK) and Andrea Echeverri (Global Forest Coalition, Colombia). This workshop was chaired by Helena Paul (EcoNexus, UK).
